Beginner classes are taught in two formats: two classes (two consecutive weeks, with each class lasting 2 – 2.5 hours), and Beginner Boot Camp, offering two classes (2 – 2.5 hours per class) back to back on a Saturday. The first class includes an introduction to the tiles, the card, and the basic rules of play. The first class also includes one or two games. The second class includes as many games as we can manage!
In this class, we work on how to choose a hand, and on how to make some of the more difficult hands on the card. This exercise really helps give beginners more confidence. After an hour or so of handbuilding practice, we move those new skills into some games. Classes are limited to three players.
Private Beginner classes
I offer classes for small groups of 4-8 new players. These classes usually involve three two-hour sessions. After three classes, most people are able to play (not necessarily to win frequently, but to play!). For more information about private classes, please use the Contact Us form.
